Kiva

Roots is currently financing an individual in a developing country through a micro-financing non profit called Kiva.
Kong Sithy is 23 years old and lives in the Me Mut district of Kampong Cham province. She earns $3 a day as a yam farmer. Her husband, Njek Sopheap, adds $4 per day to the family income as a cigarette salesman. If their yam crop yields are high this year, they will be able to set up a stand to sell them along the Vietnamese border and better support their young child. They want to use their loan to invest in more farmland on which to grow yams.
